As you will see we have a long history of involvement in supplying Marine coatings to Naval and Commercial Shipping, and to Coastal Engineering zones including jetties, terminals, pontoons, lighthouses and much more.

Ships

We aim to give you best value, cost effective solutions for the whole ship both above and below water! Our experience in Military Shipping has led us to become a major supplier to the UK Navy where we offer coatings for new build, refit and maintenance projects. Our Commercial Shipping experience goes back over 80 years.

We recognise the need to provide environmentally friendly solutions and we have devoted much of our time to the development of our tin-free anti-fouling products. The self-polishing and low surface energy toxin free properties in our materials have a positive impact on operating efficiencies including lower fuel consumption and increased time in between docking periods and less time actually in dock for maintenance work.

Demanding health and safety legislation surrounding the use of paint in internal spaces leads to the increased use of water based products. Our water based systems are nonflammable and user friendly making them ideal for use on board vessels where high levels of protection and decoration are required.

You can choose surface tolerant systems from our Silicone Alkyd, Acrylic Epoxy and Polyurethane range of finishes for the external superstructure which are also VOC compliant. To compliment this, our extensive range of deck systems (including MoD approved flight deck systems) provide anti-skid resistance in all types of weather conditions.

To prevent the spread of fire on board vessels, our flame retardant and fire resistant coatings and seals can be used on decks, bulkheads and other critical areas.

Coastal Zones

When we looked at the conditions of the Offshore Oil and Gas environment, we saw a number of similar challenges within the Marine sector and combined our technology and expertise of both markets. As such, Leighs has a comprehensive product range and can provide corrosion protection that meet the needs of Port Authorities and Lighthouse operators around the world.

Before any new product is launched to market they are subjected to rigorous testing at our dedicated marine test sites, for both immersion and atmospheric weathering. Such research has proved to be a tremendous success and today we can offer coal tar free primers and special wet surface epoxy blast primers that compliment our spectrum of products.

You can specify Leighs Marine coatings with confidence.

Find out more by taking a look at our Marine brochure. However, if you would like to talk about your project, please feel free to call our Marine department direct on +44 (0) 1204 556442. Alternatively, you can email your enquiry to marine@leighspaints.co.uk

You will see our products on many naval ships including the Ark Royal, HMS Norfolk, Grafton and Manborough.

Protecting against the elements, our Marine paints can be found at Gottwald Crane Dover Harbour board and the landing platform docks at Mounts Bay and Cardigan Bay.  Lighthouses such as St Catherines (Isle of Wight), Mumbles (South West coast of Wales) and the Lizard (Cornwall) are also coated with our high performance Marine coatings.
