Topcoat Specification Selector
For FIRETEX Thin Film Water Based Intumescents
| Service Environment |
Time to first maintenance |
Topcoat |
Internal Dry Controlled (Category C1 as defined in ISO12944-5) |
Life of Building |
None required.
For decorative purposes apply either¹:-
FIRETEX M71V2 @ 50µ DFT or
Envirogard M770 @ 35µ DFT or
Resistex C137V2² @ 50µ DFT
|
Internal semi-controlled subject to temperature fluctuation where condensation may occur |
Up to 20 years |
FIRETEX M71V2 @ 50µ DFT or
Envirogard M770 @ 35µ DFT or
Resistex C137V2 @ 50µ DFT |
In all instances of topcoat application, it is essential to ensure that the correct dry film thickness of the relevant FIRETEX intumescent basecoat has been applied.
Notes:
- During application and drying, all coated surfaces must be protected from condensation and/or other water attack.
- It is assumed that for Category C2, any condensation that occurs is of an infrequent nature.
- In certain shades, full cover may not be obtained at these thicknesses.
- In all instances, Resistex C237 can be used in place of Resistex C137V2.
- There will be scenarios outside those defined above where environmental conditions are too severe for thin film water based intumescents. In such environments M90 or M95 should be used.
- For fast blast priming and overcoating use M69.
- Maximum surface temperature in use is 40°C.
- For required thicknesses, loadings tables are available from Leighs Customer Service Department.
- All maintenance periods assume no abnormal service conditions and that areas of mechanical damage are repaired before the onset of localised breakdown.
- Small areas of mechanical damage should be repaired with M72. Larger areas of damage should be repaired using the original intumescent material.
